| The "Patton's
Best" chapter offers to answer some of the questions we have received. Question:
I noticed you don't charge for a member to pay any chapter dues.
Why? (James P. - Radcliff KY)
Hi James. We don't charge any dues because we want to keep the chapter fun and
geared towards building. Running a chapter is not that expensive and we can raise overhead
costs without imposing dues on any of our members. We don't believe in the philosophy that
if you can't afford the hobby you shouldn't be in it. GSP Jr.
Question:
How far are you from the Patton Museum? (Ronnie P. - Fayette NC)
We are a close driving distance to the museum. From where we meet, we
estimate about a 30 minute drive over open highway roads. GSP Jr.
Question:
I like your website and think it''s one of the best AMPS website.
(Myron L.. - New Albany IN)
Thanks Myron. We believe our site offers an interesting direction into the
art of armor modeling. It is themed based on our chapter name. GSP Jr.
Question:
Can I get to the Patton Museum without any hassle from the Army military?
(Bert M. - Bowling Green KY)
Yes Bert. You can reach the museum without going on Fort Knox. There is
an entrance directly off Highway 31W that is hassle free and open to the public. You
may gain access to Fort Knox with a valid drivers license GSP Jr.
Question:
Why don't you guys meet more often like every week or on a weeknight.
(Chuck B. - Louisville KY)
We feel meeting twice a month is more than enough. Our Saturday
"Tankshops" offer members a place to come and build and chat about the hobby.
In lieu of conducting a formal business meeting we also talk about the strategy and
direction of the chapter at the "Tankshops." Having meetings on weeknights
is difficult to schedule and after a hard days work, most of our members are just too
tired for evening get togethers. Our membership feels the frequency and Saturday's
appeal to most everyone. Our meeting location opens at 0900 so the time we meet coincides
with the library opening. This gives our members the opportunity to get a little sack time
before modeling time. GSP Jr.
Question:
How is your chapter sponsored? (Rich B. - Cleveland OH)
It's not - well, we do have some members that donate some time to it. GSP Jr.
Question:
Does the museum charge for admission? (James M. - Marion IN)
Absolutely not; the Patton Museum is free. If you wish, you can give a
donation upon entrance or exit but no one will twist your arm. GSP Jr.
Question:
Are there any local hobby shops in the area where you have your meetings?
(Chuck S. - Florence KY)
We do have a great hobby shop very close to where we meet. Scale Reproductions is a great hobby shop and
carries a host of armor related items along with a complete line of other hobby products.
Question:
Why are the answers to all the questions signed GSP. Jr. Who is he?
(Bob W. - Columbus GA)
Our chapter namesake, George S. Patton Jr. of course. By the way the S. stands for
"Smith." GSP Jr.
Question:
What vehicles are on display at the Patton Museum? (Cornell B. -
New Orleans LA)
It's probably best to visit the Patton
Museum site to preview their vehicles. Many are not available for viewing since
they are located in the restoration areas. GSP Jr.
Question:
I registered for the model drawing. If I win, how will I be
notified? (Markel J. - Los Angelas, CA)
You will be notified by e-mail. Will also ship out the model within a day or
two of the 1 March 07 drawing. Good luck.
GSP Jr.
Question:
I just wanted to comment that I think you have a cool web site and I like
the idea of the kit drawing. (Sauer, J. - Redwood City, CA)
Thanks for the shot in the arm. Good luck on the drawing. GSP Jr.
Question:
I used to be a member of the MMCL, and of the Goldbrickers scale Model Club when I
was stationed at Knox. I left there in 1996. I noticed your new chapter and wanted to send
you a picture that my dad had taken of General Patton. My dad was in the 83rd Inf Div. I
hope you enjoy the picture. He passed away due to lung cancer in 1999 and I'm sure that he
would be honored for you to have it. Thank you and good luck. (Robert C. Broadway, VA)
Thanks so much for the photo - we're going to place it on the website. A
couple of our members are/were members of the MMCL and a few remember the
"Goldbrickers" club. Thanks also for the kind words and well wishes for this
AMPS chapter. GSP Jr. |

"There s a great deal of
talk about loyalty from the bottom to the top. Loyalty from the top down is even more
necessary and is much less prevalent. One of the most frequently noted characteristics of
great men who have remained great is loyalty to their subordinates." |
